Events in and around The Wheatbelt

As the seasons change, there are plenty of fun and exciting events to attend in the Wheatbelt region of New South Wales, Australia. From outdoor activities to festivals and competitions, there is something for everyone. Here are just a few of the events happening throughout the year:

Autumn:
- The Canowindra Balloon Challenge: This annual event in April welcomes hot air balloon pilots from around the world to compete in a series of challenges. Visitors can watch the balloons take off and land, enjoy a champagne breakfast, and even take a flight themselves.
- Vintage Car and Bike Show: Held in Cowra in late March each year, this event showcases classic cars and motorcycles. There are also food and drink stalls, entertainment, and awards for the best vehicles.

Winter:
- Trundle ABBA Festival: In July, Trundle comes alive with the sounds of ABBA music as locals and visitors dance and sing along to their favorite songs. There are also markets, a street parade, and plenty of food and drink options.
- Canowindra International Balloon Challenge: This event in August welcomes hot air balloon pilots from around the world for a week-long competition. Visitors can enjoy the balloon flights, as well as a night glow event where the balloons light up the night sky.

Spring:
- Cowra Spring Garden Festival: A celebration of all things gardening, this event is held in Cowra in late October. There are displays of flowers, plants, and garden tools, as well as workshops and demonstrations on gardening techniques.
- Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival: This festival in Grenfell celebrates the life and work of Australian writer Henry Lawson. There are poetry readings, live music, street theatre, and markets.

Summer:
- Parkes Elvis Festival: Held in January, the Parkes Elvis Festival is a must-attend event for any Elvis fan. Visitors can dress up in their best Elvis costumes, enjoy live music and performances, and even attend an Elvis gospel service.
- Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre Summer Festival: This event in February celebrates Japanese culture with demonstrations of bonsai, calligraphy, and tea ceremonies. There are also food and drink stalls, live music, and performances.
